Tattoo Removal

Introduction

Cutaneous tattoo ablation is a functional therapeutic approach for complete surgical excision of tattooed epidermal lesions. However, at a later stage of time, someone may choose to permanently remove a tattoo for reasons of personal interest, occupational or medical exigency. Researchers have repeatedly demonstrated that existing tattoo removal techniques are safer and more effective.

What is Tattoo Removal?

The experts develop the tattoo extraction procedure upon several steps of procedures to disintegrate (fragmentations) ink particles that are embedded in the skin. To this day, the most common technique is laser ablation, tattoo removal by high-power laser mechanical deformation.

Why is Tattoo Removal Needed?

  • Personal Preference: Change in lifestyle or aesthetic choices
  • Professional Reasons: Certain jobs restrict visible tattoos
  • Medical Concerns: Allergic reactions or skin conditions
  • Tattoo Fading: Poorly done or aged tattoos may look unattractive

Types of Tattoo Extraction Process

  1. Laser (Q-Switched Laser, PicoSure, etc.)
  • Uses concentrated laser energy to break down ink particles
  • Multiple sessions are required for the complete removal
  • Effective for most tattoo colors
  1. Surgical Excision
  • Unicentric ECM combined with excision of tattooed dermis and suturing closure.
  • Best for small tattoos
  • Leaves a scar
  1. Dermabrasion
  • Removes the top skin layers using a high-speed brush
  • Less commonly used due to discomfort and scarring risks
  1. Chemical Peels
  • Uses acid solutions to peel away tattooed skin layers
  • Less effective for deep tattoos
  1. Tattoo Removal Creams
  • Over-the-counter creams that claim to fade tattoos
  • Generally ineffective for complete removal

Procedure Steps

  • Consultation: The dermatologist evaluates tattoo size, ink depth, and skin type.
  • Preparation: We achieve desensitization and can also use a local anesthetic.
  • Laser or Alternative Treatment: The practitioner performs the chosen method.
  • Aftercare Instructions: You must apply all skin preparations correctly to prevent infection and to favor rapid skin healing.
  • Multiple Sessions: Laser removal requires multiple treatments for optimal results.

  • Improves self-confidence and professional opportunities
  • Customizable options depending on tattoo size and color
